HiI am wanting to connect my 20A MPPT Charge Controller to a PC via Ethernet to monitor the overall status of my solar system. Are there technical documents available which cover how to utilize this port?
Thanks.

what controller?Aug 31, 2016 1:16:06 GMT @spiderbob said:
I'm not aware of any of Renogy's controllers that will offer that feature.Aug 31, 2016 1:26:06 GMT @rabird said:
I connected one of their epsolar controllers to a computer, the software was available @ epsolarpv.com
epsolar makes the Tracer, I have their PWM, worked great once I got it working!
click the software tab
www.epsolarpv.com/en/index.php/Technical/download
i forget which 'office' application it was associated with, database maybe.

TriMetric, by Bogart Engineering has a "battery monitor" that can be interfaced with a PC. and I believe Xantrex, although theirs is quite expensive.
I use their battery monitor with a MPPT 40 controller, on one set up and I have a didfferent one on another set up.

Renogy puts their name on various controllers.epsolar's Regony Viewstars can interface with a computer - PWM $80, $129, they no longer have the $50 10A
epsolar's Regony Tracer also - MPPT
other makers like morningstar can also but those are not Renogy.

Thomas, if you talking about the Tracer, it uses a RJ45 to USB and the software from epsolar to communicate.here's a graph the 'dash board' created, very low light situation, ViewStar controller

It would be nice if Admin confirmed this. Nice graphic BTW. It is my opinion that pretty much anything with some sort of a com port that produces a signal, like to connect a sanctioned brand meter, will also be able to communicate with a computer. It is just a mater of being able to write software that will log the readings and then output them to other software suit or file type to interpret/plot the data (i.e. *.csv files in excel)in some sort of usable "graphic" form.
Now, the port may be just for temperature readings or an "input" only port. in which case it is of not much use.
Anyone with mad coding skills in the forum?

download the software/install guide for the 'commander' aka tracer by epsolarwww.renogy.com/learn#tab_downloads

Oh I see. That is awesome, and you got the software from epsolar for free. The usb to rj45 cable he is speaking of is under the "Optional Components" in the commander manual.
I am looking into extending the CAT5 cable out to 20'. Does anyone know if both ends of the MT-50 cable pin-outs the same? The MT-50 pin-out is published in manual, but I haven't found the Commander 40 pin-out yet!
Thx,
Billy
