I just finished hooking up my solar set up. However, now I'm not sure I got the positive and negative cables from the solar panel to the charge controller hooked up correctly. Is there a way to check with a volt meter? If you use the red probe on the + and the black probe on a minus you should read correct polarity as a positive voltage. If you reverse the leads your volt meter will show a negative number. So you can measure the voltage of the two wires from the panel and if the result is positive then the red probe is the +.

So the same should be true on the RV connector end... I've got to add the SAE adaptor to connect my panel to a new RV which came with an SAEplug. The wires are color coded on the adaptor but I'm guessing that's no guarantee the polarity will be correct. I can't find it now but I've read somewhere that you need to reverse the polarity when connecting the Renogy panel.

So if using our MC4 to SAE connector on a Zamp port, then you will most likely need an SAE polarity switcher. -Renogy Team

Might look behind and rewire to the battery making it match what others do and marking the wires for the future. with it corrected you don't need reverse adapters for charge controller output or even trickle chargers that come with sae connector.
