Is there room in that fuse box for a new circuit?
It might be easier to just wire into the fuse block as opposed to bringing them all the way back to the battery, crimping lugs and clutering your battery.
You are really going to like solar in your van.

Awesome! I have a whole fuse box full of stuff (fridge, more lights, USB ports, etc) so I'll just plan to take out all the fuses while making the connection. Yes that will make it much easier..... There shouldn't be any sparks that way....

Just curious, I guess I'm missing something.... Where does the power come from if it doesn't come from the battery? If you unhook the power from the weak load side on the CC. The wires are coming from the fuse block from what I understand...
There should only be 4 wires on the battery after it is done... That's not much clutter...

Hey! I just wanted to send you a quick update. The previous owner of the van called me back finally and we chatted through what must have happened - it looks like one of the wires in the switch for the lights in question came a tad loose. Fortunately, the switch was on an easy to remove panel and I could doctor it back into shape easily enough! So, I'm going to leave things as is for now, but thanks for your help, and I'll definitely consider re-patching from the load, direct to the battery if I add anything of significance to that circuit! Thank you again for all of your help! I'm sure I'll be back with more questions soon enough.

Glad you found it and it was an easy fix, But When it does it again and it will then hook it directly to the battery....
Enjoy your solar, I know I sure do...
