The directions that come with my suitcase system state:
"WARNING: Connect battery terminal wires to the charge controller FIRST then connect the solar
panel(s) to the charge controller. NEVER connect solar panel to charge controller before the battery."
Does this mean I have to disconnect the already installed wires from the controller, hook up the battery then reinstall the solar panel wires into the controller?

hi dutch, you can disregard that warning. If it were me I might turn the panels away from the sun when I hook up the battery.
The pwm controller included in suitcase systems can be hooked to the battery without disconnecting from the panels.

Thank You bupkis. I was hoping the answer would be simple. Too bad the mfgr cannot include the corrected info in the manual...

I had the same question years ago and support here confined we did not need to disconnect the included pwm controller. Lots of folks at a popup trailer forum were getting em and all had the same question.

The Voyager on the suitcase has electronic protections. The line is general good practice and not necessarily wrong when operating with solar. -Renogy Team
