I just installed this controller a couple of days ago exactly as per instructions, to replace a smaller controller, on fully charged 12v deep cycle flooded 105ah battery. The first day array voltage was lower than battery voltage(12.6ish) so no charging took place. By mid morning next day, the controller started boiling the battery at over 14.6v. I waited a couple of hours to see if the equalization program would end, but it did not, at which point I disconnected the PV array. The charger even lit the over temp LED. It did the same thing a third time. Im afraid to leave the system hooked up and fry my batteries, or worst. I assumethis is not normal by any means. Should I wait and see, or do I have a defective unit?

So you say it's equalizing everyday? If so it's set up wrong....
Boosting is one thing Eq is another....

So it seems. Theres not much setup other than battery type. I even set it to sealed type to stop it from going into equalizing but no joy. I could hear the rlectrolite bubling after about 20 min. at this voltage.
