But would you parallel a 200AH with a 125AH? Wouldn't that actually be worse than having two of the same capacity at a different age? Yes on parallel..... I don't think it would be worse, I've read on here where people did it..... I remember one guy had three different ah batteries and he said he didn't have any problems.... If you think about it the CC doesn't know what size batteries you have........ Only what you tell it you have...... Full charge on one 12v battery is the same as another 12v battery.....
I really think that starting off with two new, With the same ah batteries is the way to go.....

Got it. Good food for thought. I really appreciate your advice.

Ok, now that I got the message, I am considering the upgrade. Problem is, that my batteries are inside my house, and the new batteries will not fit inside the space using battery boxes.
What is your opinion of the safety issues of using / not using a battery box for a modern SLA? Is it too risky to use them without a battery box (I would have a tray however)?

As long as your batteries are sealed you should be fine out side of a box...... I have 6 flooded batteries so mine are in a vented battery box inside to keep them warm in the winter....

Thanks. I was hoping you would say that. I'm gonna try to fit a box, but if I can't, at least I've got safe "plan B".
