I recently installed a Renogy 100ah lithium battery with a Wanderer controller and 100w panel on my camper. First 2-week road trip went great, and now I’m wondering if I should remove the battery and store at 80% or just leave it connected to the panel/controller. For the sake of argument let’s say I don’t plan to use the camper again for a month, or 3 months, or 6 months.

Leave it hooked up....... As long as the panel is in the sun......

Thanks! My panel is on the west side of my house, so I’m guessing I might not get a full charge in winter. In that case would it make sense to remove the battery? If it isn’t getting topped off regularly?

Now if it will make you feel better..... Take it out.........

According to the manual for your battery:
If it were a lead acid battery, I would recommend leaving the solar charging system connected and operating during winter. Lead acid batteries perform better if kept at 100% state of charge and will degrade faster at lower states of charge. Of course, if it gets really cold you may want to address that also with a lead acid battery.
Lithium batterys degrade faster if kept at 100% state of charge all the time. Which isn't a problem if you are cycling the battery by using the system. If you are not using the system during the winter, you may want to consider storing the battery somewhere that isn't too cold at about 40% state of charge. Then cycle it every few months if you aren't using it for extended lengths of time.

If you're somewhere closer to 1-3 months, it is okay to leave it connected to a system, otherwise longer periods of time should adhere to the 40-70%. This also assumes you would not be putting them in extreme temperature. -Renogy Team
