I have a 40 amp Rover charge controller which I just bought for 2 160 Renogy Solar panels. The Screws on the charge controller will not tighten onto the wires PV wires. Am I doing something wrong?

Well there are obvious answers, Is the wire stripped back far enough? Is the nut backed out far enough? Are you turning the nut in the right direction? and on and on...... Pics would be very nice..............

Thanks for the quick reply. I backed out the screws several times to lift the internal arms. I stripped the wires so that it would fit into the change controller without covering under the arms. It appears the arms do not tighten all the way when there aren't any wires inserted. Is that normal?
Thanks!

Well I can't answer that as I've never tried to do that and I don't have a CC to check it.......
Something sounds wrong...... Are all the terminals like that?
Are you using the original wire that comes with the Panels?

I ended up looking carefully where the wires go as I loosened and tightened the screw at the Rover wire terminals. If I remember correctly, I kept trying to keep the wire toward the back of the controller when inserting it, but it turned out it needs to be toward the front. If I am remembering correctly.
Watch what is happening, where the wire goes, as you loosen and tighten the terminals.

The hatch might be all the way up and you're attempting to tighten it when there is nothing to clamp onto the wires. Make sure to open the hatch (twist counter-clockwise) until the hatch opens, insert the wire, and then tighten clockwise until it clamps on the wire. Otherwise can you comment on whether the hatch moves when you're rotating the screw driver? -Renogy Team
