Hi I'm new to the Renogy Rover 20/40 and just want to ask the setting type for the new batteries with my Rover 20/40 please.
The battery type is YUASA UHX50-12 and I have 2 of them connected for 12V supply.
The battery specs says they are VRLA - AGM but after reading the Rover manual and searching the renogy site I can't get a clear answer.
The Rover manual V1.5 is extremely limited in the ACTUAL information it provides and doesn't say anything about battery type selection but in the unit settings I stumbled into the following possible settings:
* Use (assume this means USER defined parameters?)
* LI (assume this means Lithium?)
* Gel * SLD (assume this means Sealed type batteries?)
and
* FLD (assume this means Flooded Lead acid batteries?)
So I know it's gotta be set on one of the last 3 types.
But before I go any further: The manual V1.5 also states on page 2 "Do NOT equalize VRLA type AGM/GEL/LITHIUM cell batteries UNLESS permitted by the battery manufacturer.
AND My battery information sheet states "No equalising charge required"
The spec sheet on Page 23 shows that only the GEL and LITHIUM settings have no equalization charge.
So what should I believe?

can you read the charging voltage from the graph on this .pdf www.cyb.com.au/content/industrial/telecommunications/batteries/uxh-specs/uxh50-12.pdfI would use the dafault setting SLD. Not gonna look up the rover's charge profile but I bet it is 14.4v for 2 hrs, while the above .pdf may suggest a higher charging voltage! Equalize ever 30 days to 14.6v, that is not a REAL equalize and I suggest it is a TOP charge that will prob be beneficial to the battery. Controller prevents overcharging, it does not guarantee full charging especially with voltage drop in the wire and each connection to controller, fuse, battery. All connections should be very clean and tight to limit resistance in the total run of wire. I believe you can hook the rover to a computer and program its settings, you could eleimnate any top charge, change voltages, etc. What is the float voltage from the .pdf above? Pure float would be 24/7 and a controller goes to sleep at night etc.

YUASA UHX50-12 is AGM battery.
Please ask the battery manufacturer whether it needs equalization.
If your batteries need equalization, you can use the “SLD” setting, with 2 hours default Equalization Duration.
If the batteries don’t need equalization, you should change the battery type to “USER” and set the “Equalization Duration” to 0 Hrs.

Rover 40 Amp MPPT controller. Battleborne 100 AH LiPo Battery.I have it Trying to understand these settings under the Rover settings terminology. Can I change these settings? These are recommendations from my Lithium battery manufacturer.
Which is over Over discharge return voltage? and Over discharge voltage in the settings? I don't see Low voltage settings.
Select HVR High voltage reconnect (battery bank voltage when your load terminal will power back on) 14.2 Select HVD High Voltage Disconnect (when load terminal will be disconnected due to low voltage.) 14.7
The LVR you want 13 volts The LVD you want 11.5 volts

I have it set at 12V and LI but cannot access any more settings than voltage and battery type. Do I need to use a different Battery type to edit the settings?

Have you tried the directions in the manual? holding one of the keys down to get to program mode. You may need to select User as battery type.

Haven't tried User as battery type. I will try that when it cools down outside. I'm thinking the LI is a preset. Maybe If I can customize the User, that will do what I need. Thanks.

Can't see what all of the settings are currently for Lithium. Can't get the Solar Station Monitor software to work on the Windows 10 laptop. Already have a few settings from the battery manufacturer. Sent a support question for the other settings. Hope to get that soon.

I'm fairly certain that you have to connect it to the computer by USB and use the PC interface software (downloadable from renogy website) to be able to fully set the parameters for LI batteries.

Renogy Rover 40 Amp 12V/24V DC Input MPPT Solar Charge Controller with sealed acid batteries. I programmed the parameters under the user mode. After that do I have to switch back to sealed battery?? But if I do go back to sealed battery ( out of user mode)the battery is getting do much charge. I presume therefore that the controller does not hold the program?

If you want to program parameters you leave it in USER type, all the other types have preset defaults that don't change.
