I have a 40a Rover CC and 4x Fullriver AGM DC224-6 6v 224AH batteries configured in parallel/series for 448AH @ 12v This is the FR charge datasheet: resources.fullriverbattery.com/fullriver-battery/charging-instructions/batteries.pdfI set the battery type to GEL so that there is no EQ, System voltage to 12, Battery Rated Ah to 448 and the Temp comp to 4. The doc refers to Bulk/Absorption/Float but the CC only has Boost/Float?

This has nothing to do with your BT troubles but I was wondering how many and what w panels do you have?
And yes the only choices you have is boost and float since you don't need the Eq with gel...
I believe Boost is the same thing as bulk, Absorption is when it holds at the top voltage for a length of time and float is when it's reducing the voltage over time.... At least that's my take on it...
So skipping Ab shouldn't hurt anything...

The install is in a fifth wheel. I have 4x 160w panels, configured as pairs in series and those two group in parallel. The CC shows Boost mode for a while then Float. The trailer is parked right now so not a lot of power burn. Won't see that until the winter. I had 2 panels for the last two winters and added two more this summer. In Jan/Feb I tilted them for best performance, with 4 I shouldn't have to. Overnight usage is normally fully recovered by noon on sunny days. We can go 3 days with cloud before we're depleted. Panels: hespv.ca/industrial/hespv-160-36pvThe install also has a Xantrex PROWatt 2000 PSW.

Man it sounds like you have a great set up.... That's how it should work...

What battery makers call absorption, solar calls boost. This is the constant voltage charging where the controller keeps the battery at some set voltage and generally the current tapers as the battery gets FULL. Bulk is when all the solar power goes to the battery while its voltage is rising up to absorprtion/boost set point. Bulk is over once it gets to this set point.
2.45v/cell with 6 cell = 14.7v, that would be bulk and boost and absorption set pt.
keep it at boost/absorption until I=.012-.2 x C20 ? ? ? this may mean .188 x C20 or 1.88A for a 100 ah battery.
float of 2.275v/cell x 6 = 13.65v
I know my brothers AGM call for 14.7v and once there imediately revert to float so I set his CC to SLD default = 14.4 for 2 hrs with 14.6 Eq 2 hrs every 30 days! temp comp of course.

too funny, read the pdf. change absorption to boost!!!!! This is a very typical charge profile, might even see the same type of graph in the CC manual I= current and U = voltage, so this charge profile is IUU or constant current/constant voltage. In short it reads as charge till batt v has reached 2.45v/cell then hold it there for some time until the current has tapered to a low value, then change the constant voltage setting to much lower - 2.275v/cell - keep it constant while calling it Float! (employ temp compensation for all this!) 10% minimum current based on capacity is a good start so if ya have 600ah of capacity you'd need 60A of solar! most folks don't have that much and have issues!!!! These AGMs call for 20% of C20 capacity for initial charge current. A 12v battery or 12v battery bank is considered 6 cells!!!!!

Yep that's ^^^^ what we were just talking about when I was figuring out if my CC had a problem...
That's what they were talking about in that battery link you posted...

Thanks bupkis.
The GEL settings have boost @ 14.2v & float @ 13.8v but going by what you're saying it should be boost @ 14.7v & float @ 13.65v. This sound right?
I have Temp comp @ 4 and EQ time @ 0.
I'll know better in the winter in AZ & CA how it performs. Right now the trailer is in Ontario with some shade cover. Currently overcast @ 8:30AM local and panels are only producing 33.4v @ 1.3A

if you follow the pdf for IUU charging, 14.7, 13.65, -4mV/ C/cell, they don't give a boost time but suggest that boost should be long enough for current to taper down to a low value. This would change with different amount of light and different discharges, a compromise is needed!
I have no issue with the SLD if you do not use USER and set what ya want.
A call to fullriver would be helpful, your typical use may help them give the correct settings.

Going back and looking at the manual (and what I see on the display) it looks like Bulk Charge is referred to as MPPT Charge Mode. There's no control over this mode and is active until it switches to Boost Mode.
