I received my new AGM 100 amp hour deep cycle solar battery today.it did not come with any sort of parameter settings or any other literature. My controller does not list AGM in the choices for battery type. I called tech support and was advised to set it on the "gel" setting. Equalization setting is to be set the same as the boost setting for this type of battery. I have done all this and the other timer settings for equalization have been set to 0. Hopefully this is correct as I don't want to jeopardize anything in this new system LOL. It seems to have set correctly and looks as though everything would be precisely as it needs to be set for this battery. However, it lists my battery as a 200 amp hour battery. My battery is of course a 100 amp hour battery. if I change this to the correct setting it seems to affect the parameter settings and make them incorrect. Any clarification about what I could possibly do to make sure everything is all right? I believe that the size of the battery would be irrelevant as far as the charge settings go and it would be alright to leave it at 200Ah?

The size of the battery matters...... Sealed is the way to go....... And yes most things that are sold for solar doesn't come with instructions.... WHY? I don't know....

I sent an email yesterday to the manufacturer of my battery asking them for a recommended settings hopefully they will get some information back to me. I guess I could actually use the settings that are appropriate and change the ones that are incorrect like the battery capacity in user settings. I'm just not very knowledgeable about any of this so I'm suffering a little bit of trepidation about messing with it too much. Thank you for your response. (I had actually considered that). I checked out user settings yesterday and it allows me to change things. I just know I don't want equalization on AGM battery correct?

I specifically asked the tech support on the phone yesterday because I assumed that since it is a sealed battery that would be the choice. He said specifically not to do that LOL. You see where my confusion comes from.

Set it to sealed and forget it. AGM are sealed, the minor equalization is nearly nill.
IIRC SLD is 14.4v (temp corrected) with 14.6 eualization. My brothers 4 x 100ah AGMs get this charge profile even though the maker claims to charge to 14.7 and then float.
what make model of battery? Capacity means nothing to the controller.

Plus I zeroed out the equalization time, and interval. And got the battery capacity set to 100Ah.

Which AGMM Battery do you have specifically? Manufacturer and Model? -Renogy Team

I appreciate everyone's information and patience, thanks. Thank you fro this information, Tech Support probably thought you had the Renogy AGM. It looks like you have set your parameters correctly with your AGM and the Rover USER Setting. -Renogy Team

The battery is the only thing that did not come from Renogy. I'm starting a serious collection of stuff from them however. Have two more things coming in now LOL. Thank you for putting my mind at ease about this. When you know next to nothing and are trying to read and absorb everything you can, it helps to have someone you can trust letting you know that you're doing something right. The basic premium kit that I purchased first has really started to evolve.

I posted a photo a few posts earlier it's made for Lightcatcher Solar. It is theoretically made with a slightly different composition strictly for solar.
