Hello Solar Experts!
On Monday we installed 8 methane sensors powered by solar+battery. Three of the 8 are failing, all in the same exact way. When the battery is fully charged, if I turn on the load (press the “enter” button), the system will soon shut off with an E-04 error. The surprising feature of this problem is that it’s happening on 3 of the 8 controllers, and it happens even if we disconnect the load.
I’m hard pressed to believe that more than 30% of the controllers are defective so I’m looking for possible answers. Some more details.
1. We have configured the battery type as “LI” and the battery voltage as 12V. 2. The load mode is 15 3. Controller is Wandererer 10A PWM 4. Panel is Renogy 50W 5. Battery is LIFEPO4 12V 18AH
Test scenarios:
1. If we disconnect the solar panels, we can run the load all day without issue. 2. If the battery is partially depleted, it will run until the battery is fully charged before failing. 3. When it fails, the battery voltage is above the 16V cutoff called for in the manual (meter and display both read in excess of 18V). 4. With the load turned off (again, enter button), the controller charges the battery without issue (no errors). 5. With the load turned on, the failure will happen with everything disconnected (e.g. both USB and load wires removed).
I have searched the internet but found nobody reporting quite this issue. Any ideas?
