I have a question. I have the RNG-INVT-2000-12V-P3 and when pulling any load the fans turn on and are quite loud at least to me since the inverter is in the same room. The fans run full at 150-200W and never turn off while the load is attached. When I remove the load the fans turn off. I saw the previous model RNG-INVT-2000-12V-P2 I believe was the model in a friends RV and the fans only turned on when the unit got hot and then turned off when it cooled down. Are the fans in the P3 Thermal or Load based?

My 500w inverter fan comes on every time my fridge comes on but not when I have it hooked to my 2000w inverter...
I would think it's both, load and thermal...

I think you may be right. I did some more testing with a kill-a-watt meter and and an adjustable heat gun. Below 200-250w the fans turned on and off after a while which would indicate thermal operation. While above 300 it stayed on pretty constant. I'm thinking the previous model which had a larger heat sink and used its case as a heat sink which was larger and heaver, didn't have to run the fans as often. This newer model which is smaller and lighter must have smaller heat sinks and runs the fan more often to cool off the internals as the case doesn't get warm like the previous model did. I'm still pretty happy as It can run everything I throw at it so far within its ratings. I just wish the fans were quiter.

Yes it is loud.... It wakes me up at night running with my 500w.... So I switch over to my 2000w at night.....

You can expect the P3 inverters to have the fans turn on at around 10% of the rated wattage and or when the temperature reaches 40dC

The P3 models are the newer non-charging pure sine wave inverters that features function switches for an adjustable power saving mode and a 50 Hz output frequency option. www.renogy.com/renogy-1000w-12v-pure-sine-wave-inverter-with-power-saving-mode/-Renogy Team Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
