We have a complete Renogy solar system in Florida on our house - works great - but go away to Michigan for a few months in the summer. I'm wondering what is the best way to leave the panels? Leave them as is, collecting sun energy (which we don't use when gone) or just tilt them down so they don't continually charge the batteries?
Thanks for any help! In my opinion: Leave 'em be. They, plus your charge controller, are designed to do exactly what they're doing whether you're there or not: To charge and maintain your batteries. ^^^^ Yes sir like he said leave it along...^^^^^^ If you can check the battery acid level make sure they are full if not have a nice trip... You should still be up and running when you get back home... hi brucev, solar makes a great maintainer. I might consider reducing absorption time to 30mins or so if you can. Providing the proper float voltage 24/7 is a great way to maintain a battery, solar can only do this when the sun shines .
