We’ve all been piecing together bits of info here and there from various renogy webpages/manuals/etc. what I can’t find is an in depth explanation of the Bluetooth monitoring app and what all the various bits mean.
For example- on the monitoring tab, the top is clearly the solar panel and what’s coming from the panels to the charge controller. Then the next section - battery: is that voltage and amperage going TO the battery? Or is it voltage OF the battery and amperage going to the battery?
I’d love to see labeled screenshots. Especially for the settings page. I’m usibg VMAX batteries and the charge profile doesn’t include all the different settings you can set in the app.
Thoughts? Can anyone point me to more info? Or should we do this ourselves?

My take: Monitoring panel: Solar panel section is voltage & current from the panel (Chg pwr is just V*I). The current seems to be what the panels are actually producing until the charge needs are lower and then it drops back to what the panels are being throttled to. Battery section is essentially the same numbers but dropped to battery charge voltage (V*I still the approx same # as above). Mine shows MPPT charge mode until 100% then boost and then float. Record panel: daily totals for the full day or up to current time for current day. Some numbers are meaningless if you don't use the Load connection. The charts are OK but I don't see the point of "All" or why it would default to there and then I have to pick "Month". I'd rather see some intraday chart data but I don't think the Rover puts that out (other than by capturing the instantaneous data but the connection drops so much you'd miss a lot) Settings pane: Just that, the parameters that can be changed. Only the ones in white box can be changed. I thought I read somewhere that the "User" had to be done from the PC interface but the app shows them as changeable. Someone else can try setting the values to see if they take  I connect using the Device Info panel. If the app hangs I kill it and try again. I'm on a OnePlus 3T running Android 8.0 |

I don't see what the difference between these would be if any. Using a volt meter on can take a measure @ the battery and @ the controller and they will be very close to each other, of course your voltmeter may not match the controller's numbers exactly. may you can provide the screen shot with specific questions. for instance What is system voltage  |

I would’ve assumed that the battery voltage, vs the voltage that the charge controller is sending to the battery would be different, that imthe CC varies the voltage based on state of charge of the battery. Is that not true? |

I'm on a OnePlus 3T running Android 8.0 You can change settings in the BT app, BUT it’s not a great connection, and often takes two or three tries for the changes to take. |

hi thevankongs, the voltage from a charge source is generally drawn down to that of the battery. As the battery charges and battery voltage increases the charge source voltage will increase. Due to losses in the wires, connections, etc the charge source will be slightly higher than the battery so the CC is measuring its output, it is assumed it is equal tothe battery v. Some controllers can use a remote battery voltage sensor which would let the CC know a more precise battery voltage but with the CC close to the battery and large enough wire to handle the current that is not always needed. Remote temp sensor are available for some controllers to use actual battery temp vs CC temp.
The concept is the battery is charged to some set pt of say 14.4v and held there for some time period (2hrs is a normal default), during this 2 hrs the battery v is held constant as the current tapers as the battery becomes full charged. When time is up the set pt now becomes FLOAT of 13.?v based on battery type and CC logic. I have no idea what Vmax charge profile is of if any changes need to be made.

Other than figuring out what things are in the app... what's everyone's experience on using it? On Android I find it hangs a lot. If I go out of range I kill the app to get it to reconnect. Sometimes the BT1 will hang and I need to reset it.
I'd like a chart option to show last xx days rather than just month to month, useless at the beginning of the month

I find if I've connected to another BT device, I need to (on my phone) disable and reenable bluetooth, even if I've disconnected from that other device. That forces my phone and the BT transmitter to sync up again. I also find that I have to be inside our van, or have the doors open. Bluetooth doesn't seem to like metal. |
