The Generator came back to life all on it's own some months after the error as described previously.
All I CAN say is that after having Zero success bringing it back to life i.e. being able to use it at all because of the error and after calling Renogy and performing the task they suggested before sending it back, I let it set for a number of weeks. Soon after I turned it on fully intending on sending it back and,,, to my surprise I was welcomed with a 4% reading and no error message. I then plugged it in and it charged to 100%. I'm still a little puzzled with it all because since then all's been well. I've had it plugged into the wall and to the internal and a pair of external 100w panels and all worked perfectly
I would sure like to know what happened here in case it happens again or to anyone else but am happy for what I got anyhow.
The conversation I had with Renology was very pleasant and professional. The task they did want me to complete prior to sending it back was to try and charge it via a different source beside my home AC outlet which I had been using exclusively prior to the error. This did not work although I tried it via Solar and my car DC outlet. The thinking on Renogy's part as I recall was that the circuit used via and AC outlet for charging might be the culprit. Turns out it wasn't but certainly seemed to be worth a try.
Overall I'm still happy with the unit minus this hiccup.
Thanks everyone here who tried to help
