I need to directly interface the Renogy Charge Controller to a Raspberry Pi using the RJ11 interface on the device. I can't find any information regarding the protocol, levels (RS232 vs RS485), or pinout. Any information would be appreciated.

The attached image helped me out. I had to swap the TX and RX wires on the DB-9 side of the connector from what is pictured, but otherwise works great. Attachments:

I'm running a Pi and using the USB/RJ11 cable that came with my Rover but I also created a very long one using an old USB/RS232 cable

Haven't looked at it for a year since it just sits there plugged in an I SSH to the Pi. For my extended cable that I can run from my desk to the RV outside I ground the sides off an RJ45

I ground the sides off an RJ45 I remember reading that on another thread in June or July when I was trying to figure this out. I debated doing that since I couldn't find any RJ12 cables anywhere in the house. Lots of RJ11's to go around, though.
