Hello Renogy Forum,
I had a question that I posed to Renogy Tech support and need a second opinion. The question is this:
I have one (1) 260 watt Renogy PV panel, a Rover 40A MPPT charge controller, a 2000 watt Renogy pure-sine inverter, and
two 125aH VMAX Gell batteries wired in parellel. Can I attach a VMAX 12 VOLT smart charger (BC 1215 A) to the pos and neg battery
post without harming the Rover charge controller or batteries?
I want to thank Renogy Tech. support for all of their help they have provided me, I trust them (esp.Tony) but being very new to off grid solar
I need to have a 2nd opinion.

I think you should be able to hook it to the batteries with no harm to the CC.... All it will do is let the CC work less...
Is there a reason... Other than topping the batteries off if the panels weren't in the sun enough... which is a good thing if you can at least once a week......
What did Renogy tell you...

I need to have a 2nd opinion. There won't be a problem connecting your smart charger. As stated, it will probably just take priority over the controller, or vice versa so you can expect a dominant and recessive charger. -Renogy Team

By the way buy a 500w inverter...... If you don't really need the 2000w everyday as it uses a LOT of power just by itself...
