Sorry, I don't quite get why the confrontation. I intended to be commenting on the series vs. parallel idea. While I was creating my post, some other posts came in on other topics. Perhaps I misunderstood the purpose of this forum. Personally, I will attempt to be constructive and helpful, and I am sure that I will need some help at times. I definitely don't expect to always be correct, but I find no particular reason for your reaction. I guess it's because I was trying to get him to understand the right way to figure his solar system and you were saying it can't be figured, That's all.........
I'm not talking about the OP but. So many people think you can run anything they want with a couple batteries and 2 panels and it ain't gonna happen..... I've seen it many times...

I was sort of looking forward to learning from group of folks here, especially from an "aficionado" as well as contribute based on my own experience. Man I'm here like many to help people, as Renogy isn't here very much and they were NEVER over at the old forum......

Mediadogg, Your not going to believe it I'm sure, but there was a guy on the old forum that had a solar system that he said he had dozens of AA batteries running things in his van I believe it was....
People do some wild things......

Hi mediadogg, my reasoning for paralleling 60 cell panels for a 12v system is due to transformer efficiency alone. Renogy does not publish eff curves like other mppt controller makers do. The larger the difference between input and output voltage the lower the eff (transforming does cost some power). Just a few percent can be big. Just like using adequate size wire both panel to controller and controller to battery. Of course I am a big fan of BIG wire from controller to battery cuz batteries love the correct voltage for FULL charge and long life, remote voltage sensor helps here! For a big grid tie system it seems series is the way to go.
of course his fixed install angle is important as is where this install is located in the world, time of year, weather and all that good stuff. There is no need to guess how much power these 550w of panel make daily, the OP should be able to measure and make good guesses for the changing sun at different times of year. Locally N. TX there is a big difference in power production on fixed panels between July and December.
watts keeps being thrown around like it is power. Let us take the oil heater set to low or 600 watts (ignore inverter eff). So this thing will cycle on and off and let us say that overnight it is ON a total of 3 hrs. That's 1800 watt hrs. That is more than enough to drain 2 x 110ah batteries below 50%.
If I were the OP, I would not drain my batteries below 50%. If each is 1300 watt-hr (110 ah x 12v), and they are in parallel then I would limit my overnight use to ~1 kwh (1000 watt hr) before getting them a charge. Of course the 110 ah capacity is based on discharging the battery over 20hrs or 5.5 amps = 11 amps for the pair, 600 watts is in the 50 amp range per pair or 25 amps each, this means the capacity is actually less than 110 ah.
The OP has utility power so he can play with all this and determine what works!
It takes lots of info to size a system and folks end up destroying batteries along the way learning. Its just $$$, have fun!

here is how you connect 12v batteries to make one big 12v battery, in parallel. Do it in a balanced fashion as described for better battery performance. My bank is connected with diagram 2 right now. When I get back home I will shoot for diagram 4.
